In an emergency, dial 112.

If you consider that the emergency is life-threatening, please specify that you need the SAMU (an ambulance with a doctor on board will be sent.)

If you need to attend an accident and emergency department outside normal working hours, you should ring 112 and they will tell you which hospital is receiving patients.

For children under the age of 14, the Kanner Klinik at Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Out of Hours

If you need to see a General Practitioner outside of the regular opening hours, you can visit one of the three “Maison Médicales”.

They are available at the following addresses:

• Luxembourg-ville – 59, Rue Michel Welter, L-2730 Luxembourg

• Esch/Alzette – 70, rue Émile Mayrisch, L-4240 Esch/Alzette

• Ettelbruck – 110, avenue Lucien Salentiny, L-9080 Ettelbruck

During the week, this service is available from 8pm until 7am the next morning.

During the weekends, it operates from 8pm on the Friday evening until 7am on the Monday morning. It is also open on national holidays.

In the evening, you can simply turn up and you will be seen by a doctor. As of July 2020 please note to phone 20333111 if you need an out of hours appointment

After midnight, if you need to see a general practitioner, you should call 112; you will either be advised to attend one of the 3 locations listed above, or you will be offered a home visit.
